Getting deeper inside reality

February 20th 2007 13:01
Hey,

second post on wisdom, talking about a concept i'd like to present. The ideas in the last post showed how i think it is absurd to create barriers to what you should do or not, so in this post i'd explain where you get if we follow what we concluded with this.

Absorving more information, acting in different ways, doing new things, etc. are actions that expand your knowledge of "real", that give you more information to deal and use. This information helps you decide about your actions in the future, and thus help you define a behaviour, with the most "grand style" possible. For people who will deal with you, they'll see everytime something new, something harder to undersand, something that can surprise them more times, or as i'd like to say, something deeper.

This idea of "deepness" i use to describe not only things, but mostly people. Kids can't be deep, they have not yet developped an internal "base" for interpratation, they are not interpreting "real" as much as you. People are, everyday, defining their "bases" , their way of gathering information from "real" and projecting them inside their heads. The more you get information, the more your "base" develops (like a neural network...), the harder it will be to undersand the way you think, and thus the actions you take. This "deepness" represents the capacity of people to absorb "real" and act. The more "deepness" you have, the more "grand style" you'll be able to have in your actions.

And that's with this idea that i most of the times attack the "american way of life", that does not only explains their way of living, but everything they produce, which can be view in arts. The lack of "deepness" is present in most of their works, as you get to the bottom of the thing in 5 minutes of reasoning, and worst, sometimes there's nothing inside...

Anyway, another day for commenting about art and esthetics. A last paragraph on "deepness".

This "deepness" not only can bring you knowledge but if well used can bring you power over "real" (please don't thing i'm writing an apology on the will to power...which most of the times is misundertood...). I mean, the most you know about a thing, the more you can get from it. Isn't it better to have more power over the things around, so that you can do the things you want in "grand style"? I think we all agree on this one.

And here it is, now i'll be able to use the term "deepness" in my next posts, and develop a little bit more about wisdom...

Thanks. Uula

PS: This post creates me a little paradox to this post here. I'll write about it in the future to solve the problem...

Hey Uula, I don't have much to say in reply to this one, but your ideas about reality and depth seem to me to be similar to those of Robert Nozick in "The examined life". He sort of talks about "being more real", and explores different dimensions of what this might involve.
