The constant state of insatisfaction
September 29th 2007 16:08
I think nowadays most people know this somehow "budist" way of seeing the world, where we should embrace our present and see hope as the misery of man.
So, here we go for a nietzschean post on budism...
Seeing future and hope as misery could be analog to this "looser" philosophy that Niezsche attacked in his works..for him (and i don't agree completely with this), democracy is system that helps the worst while cutting the possibilities of the best. Instead of giving value to what's beatifull, we give value to the ordinary.
That's a problem of democracy, it's true. Democracy can be seen as the final victory of the ordinary over the constant need for evolution that pushes men to become genius. That's Niezsche's awsome insight, and he has a point for that.
But these "live for the present" philosophies have been taken too seriously these days. No one should really attach himself (love) to anyone, cause since we're all gonna die, the misery that comes from this could be unacceptable. You should accept the world and your finitude to be happier in life.
If the objective is to be happy, i have to agree. You can't be happier than when you have no hopes or inspirations that did not succeded...but i think this quest for happiness leads the people to deny every inspiration and objective he could think about in his life. As the budist, we would all live like monks eating 200g or rice a day..
Mate, humanity did not got here by thinking this way. It's obvious; the constant insatisfaction of men push humanity to evolve; and become each time closer to be god. Instead of seeing god above us, we're trying to get a meeting with him, to tell where're not here to live as dogs. You see, the biggest inspiration of a dog is the "ciclic" promenade at the end of the day.
So, sorry for happiness, but true happiness can only be achieved by dogs. Would you like to be one? If not, please welcome in your home the constant state of insatisfaction. As the Rolling Stones song wisely said..
cheers.
