Hey God, are you looking at me?

Hey,
little post to talk about a matter that i don't think is really important, but i've just commented in one guy's blog about this, and i though it would be good subject to write some lines about.
Before starting, please notice that i'm not taking any position! The last thing i want is to be called an atheist, satanist, or whatever....
People have been discussing the existence of God for a long time, and i don't see any good conclusions about this being taken by our western philosophy. Sorry people, but these proofs of the existence of God with ideas like "the first cause of all things" and so on are quite vague for me.
On the other hand, no one till this day really prooved that God don't exist either. Nietzsche talked a lot about "God is dead" and things like these, but a good prof, nan.
I found a good thing written about this matter in a book i read these last times, by german philosopher Jaspers (who was christian): "We can't have proofs like in natural sciences about the existence of God, and nothing prooving the inverse neither."
For me, these discusions between religious people and atheits are taking too much time. What hell, does He exist or not?
Acctually, we can't have a precise conclusion on the matter (maybe dying...). The only thing that seems pretty clear for me is that even if God exists, it doesn't change a thing (taking the words from Sartre, in a soft way...)
Ok, you can come to me and say that this is no true either, that the acts of God are everywhere, but we don't see directly. Well, in this case, you have to agree that people who believe in fairies and ghosts can have the same argument as you...
So, coming to a conclusion: mate, if God exists, it doesn't change the fact that you have to look for a job, pay your taxes, and be prudent to avoid problems....
Please notice that i'm not saying that religions have no interest, what i don't agree at all. But this is another matter, which we'll come back in another post.
So that's it. See you next time. Cheers. Uula

I don't know if you can write off the significance of God existing as easily. Depends on what is meant by God. I mean, you could have a "thin" deist conception -- God created the universe, then pissed off somewhere else, leaving us to our own devices. Or you could have a "thicker" conception -- God is omniscient, omnipotent, etc, he needs to be appeased by worship and sacrifice, and he doesn't want you to have sex or do drugs or he'll send you to hell.

thanks for the comment! It's better to have discussions than monologues...it can bring you new ideas.
The thing i don't get is: if we can't conclude nothing on him, how can one tell that "God" doesn't want me to do drugs or that women should wear veils all the time?
Speaking of God seems to me to be as fair as people who believe that ghosts live among us, and you shouldn't speak bad things about them...
hehe, anyway, if one can't speak, he should be silent....cheers

I don't really want to argue on the side of the theists, but I suppose that, when you write
a theist would simply reply, "But we CAN conclude information about God".
And then the conversation turns into an endless discussion about the provability of God, etc....
